COURTNEY CAPRIO

Courtney is a force of nature who has spent years navigating high-stakes litigation and arbitration across the country. After beginning her career in BigLaw, Courtney started her own law firm specializing in plaintiffs’ litigation matters—including defamation, contract disputes, intellectual property, fiduciary duty, and LLC disputes—and ultimately joined AXS LAW to continue her focus on plaintiff-side commercial cases.

Given her unique depth and breadth of experience, Courtney glides effortlessly between interviewing witnesses on the sidewalk, to persuading executives in a boardroom, to convincing judges and juries in the courtroom. Leveraging the skills and insights that she honed defending the large corporations and powerful individuals that she now sues, Courtney has achieved tremendous results for her clients at AXS LAW. In her first trial with AXS LAW, Courtney played a leading role in protecting the Baoli brand, resulting in a jury award of $8.5 million for the originators of the famous French nightclub against an American investor attempting to steal the trademark. Then, just ten months later, on the strength of Courtney’s closing argument, a federal jury awarded $63.5 million to Courtney’s clients (including $47.6 million in punitive damages) for the emotional distress and reputational harm that they suffered when a City of Miami Commissioner retaliated against them for exercising their First Amendment rights to oppose him.

A Virginia native who grew up on a small farm, Courtney earned both her undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Virginia.  She has been recognized as the “Most Effective Lawyer” by the Daily Business Review for a complete trial victory on behalf of Verizon Wireless in a Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practice case brought by the Florida Attorney General, as well as by Florida Super Lawyers. Courtney most enjoys telling a compelling story for her clients to win their cases.  She is admitted to practice in Florida, but regularly appears on behalf of her clients nationwide, including in a Ponzi scheme case pending in the District of Nevada that she is leading on behalf of defrauded investors against Wells Fargo Bank.
